Media Analysis

Diwan News and Media Monitoring Center

Diwan prepares research papers, information reports, policy and position analysis in the areas of public policy, national security and international relations to support decision-makers in taking the right action, based on scientific approaches. Diwan will:

1. Provide information in a scientific format, and in an objective framework that makes it easy to handle, sparing the decision-maker marginal, subsidiary or false information or data.
2. Put forward alternatives to the decision-maker toward a specific issue, identifying opportunities, risks and costs resulting from exercising each alternative.
3. Look to the future and predict likely repercussions of the current political alternatives by estimating the positions of different actors.

Diwan Center achieves this by providing a variety of tools for decision-makers, such as papers, reports and studies of political information, analysis and positions estimates, in the areas of political development, international relations, the economy, national security and future studies, as follows:

Publications

1. Information reports
A daily online news report that does not include data analysis. The report is limited to the supply of important information pertaining to a specific issue or event to the decision-maker.

2. Policy Analysis Bulletin

This aims to provide an estimate of the latest developments during the specific monitoring period. The bulletin relies on daily monitoring of the most important material published about the issue of interest (a specific event and its repercussions, a State... etc), e.g. local or international reports or studies issued by certain research centers. In addition to informing on the status quo, the report submits an analysis of relevant parties' positions.

3. Estimating Positions
A researcher sets up a preliminary paper to analyze a certain position, or the total current scene, and to detail expected scenarios and potential actors' positions. The paper is then debated by the work-team. Then, it is prepared in a final stage to reflect the overall estimate of what is expected.

4. Research Papers
These are full researches on subjects identified as needed, depending on requirements. A paper is prepared subject to the rigors of scientific research, and to direct supervision of academic specialists. Comprehensive research will go into aspects of the subject under study from a perspective that will best serve the decision-maker.
